Le bruit vivace du bois

À travers la forme du vidéo-poème, Le bruit vivace du bois explore les mêmes thématiques que l’installation BERCEUSES : la maternité, la mémoire et la répétition des gestes liés au soin d’autrui. Déployant un extrait de la première partie du recueil éponyme (Poètes de brousse, 2023), il tente de donner corps au poème par le mouvement. L’écriture et la matière se répondent ici en cadence, et l’œuvre met en tension la fragilité et la persistance du souvenir, évoquant la trace que la répétition finit par graver, comme une empreinte sur le bois — une gravure. Par un montage sobre et contemplatif, le texte s’anime, se déploie dans la lenteur et la respiration, invitant à une lecture intime. Grâce au langage vidéographique, Le bruit vivace du bois poursuit la recherche d’Émilie Turmel sur la matérialité du langage et la transposition du poème dans d’autres médiums, faisant résonner la voix maternelle comme un écho à la fois tendre, obstiné et vivant.

Through the form of a video poem, Le bruit vivace du bois explores the same themes as the installation BERCEUSES: motherhood, memory, and the repetition of gestures associated with caring for others. Drawing on an excerpt from the first part of the eponymous collection (Poètes de brousse, 2023), it attempts to give substance to the poem through movement. Writing and material respond to each other in rhythm, and the work creates tension between the fragility and persistence of memory, evoking the trace that repetition ultimately engraves, like an imprint on wood—an engraving. Through sober and contemplative editing, the text comes to life, unfolding slowly and breathlessly, inviting an intimate reading. Through the language of video, Le bruit vivace du bois continues Émilie Turmel's exploration of the materiality of language and the transposition of poetry into other media, making the maternal voice resonate like an echo that is at once tender, obstinate, and alive.
